I can’t get my bobbin to hook…?

I took a sewing class, not too long ago, but I used the machines with the bobbin that just goes right under the presser foot (you don’t have to open the side or anything). Now I’m borrowing my aunts machine and it’s the type with the bobbin that goes in the side. I read the directions 10 times over and I looked online. I can’t get the bobbin to hook. It says to put the bobbin in the bobbin case then hook it through that little part and pull some extra thread through. Then is says to put it in the machine and close. I’m suppose to turn the hand wheel towards me until I see the string come up through the top, but it won’t come through the top. it just sits there. I tried so many things but it won’t work. Can anyone PLEASE help me?

if the thread hangs out of the bobbin then the bobbin is correct but make sure theres about 2 inches hanging out of it, is there a sewing needle inserted? if not put one in, there also needs to be thread through the needle to be able to pick the bobbin thread up. You are absolutely right the bobbin is located under the foot but some machines are located under the foot using a side door or either a sliding cavity. In both cases you normally use the same method. If the bobbin is inserted into a bobbin case then put into the bottom I suggest you look at it and make sure the thread comes out of it properly and make sure enough thread hanging out. Remember you need thread through the needle to pick up the bottom thread.
