Many would think that a ladybug costume is appropriate only for small children. However, this is not entirely true, because you can create yourself a breathtaking ladybug costume that will impress everybody at the party. Therefore, if you are tired of dressing up as a mermaid, or as any other princess of your childhood, here is your chance to try out a ladybug outlook for yourself. Exactly because this image is associated with smaller girls, you should avoid at all cost wearing childish accessories.

First, you need a stretch mini dress of ruby red color. The fabric of the dress should be ideally velvet or satin. These are materials which do not look cheap, and which guarantee a comfortable wear as well. This ruby red dress will be the basic item for your ladybug costume. If you can find a simple stretch red dress with polka dots that is perfect. If you cannot, then you will start by adding dots to the dress from black velvet. Take a sheet of fabric, and draw circles on it with a different colored marker. Use the bottom of a cup for drawing perfect dots. Then, you will start cutting out these and with the help of a fabric adhesive, you will glue the dots on the dress. Ideally, you will cut out some more small sized black polka dots for obtaining a nice optical illusion.

Using the same black velvet, you will attach to the bottom of the ladybug costume a ruffled layer. If you do not like velvet, and want to create more mysticism, you can use different materials such as black lace, organza or tulle. You will observe by now how cute your dress looks. Not at all childish but very feminine and elegant, this dress is fit for any other party, not just for Halloween.

Spice up your ladybug costume with a pair of black satin gloves, which will perfectly match the shoulder strap dress. If you want to, you can design a pair of small sized wings of oval shape. You will make these of black lace and attach some wire inlays to it. Just be careful to design yourself small sized ones, otherwise you may end up on the verge of looking ridiculous.

Now you are dressed up in a very nice red and black combination, and you are ready to fly right into the heart of the Halloween party. Do not forget to match your dress with a nice pair of black or red high heels!
