There are many wedding gowns that will be very appropriate for a rustic or country wedding. Lace is always gorgeous for a country bride. For the most simple look, a tea length cotton lace frock is beautiful. The shorter length is great for showing off your shoes. For a more traditional bridal look, opt for a strapless or v-neck wedding dress with lace. Look for a dress with lace on the bodice or the skirt. If lace is not your cup of tea, look at dresses made from materials like organdy or organza. Ethereal netting is also a wonderful option for your gown. Personally, I have never liked seeing shiny satin gowns with beading at relaxed outdoor weddings. Pearl bridal jewelry will look lovely with any of these great country style wedding gowns.
The attendants should wear dresses that complement the bridal gown. Shorter dresses can be wonderful for a casual country setting. Playful bright colors are a nice option for a country wedding. Once again, non-shiny materials will be better. An interesting texture like pique would be a great option for the bridesmaid dresses at an outdoor barn wedding. It is smart to suggest flats to your bridesmaids, since heels are so impractical on grass. It would be pretty for each woman to wear a flower in her hair to complete the look.
People who will be attending the wedding as guests should also try to pick clothes that suit the countryside. The season will also be a factor. For a summer country celebration, the men will look great in seersucker suits, at least in the South or New England. If you want to look appropriate but make less of a statement, a simple tan poplin suit will do nicely. A small check on your shirt will fit into the country spirit nicely. Nubby wool jackets are wonderful for autumn weddings in the country. A full suit is too formal, so choose a nice jacket and pants combination instead.
The female guests at a rustic wedding should think about what is practical for the location. Very fragile fabrics, heavy beading, and high heels are definitely impractical for attending an outdoor wedding. On warm days, a lovely sundress looks great. Ladies can even wear garden hats if they like. Just think about how pretty you will look. Clothing with interesting texture is always wonderful for a country fall celebration. Imagine angora, twill, or velveteen. Classic fall colors like russet or orange are always great. When you make sure to match your outfit to the location, you will be able to relax and enjoy the wonderful wedding.
