Bobbin and Lace and Tatting

My thread keeps getting stuck around the bobbin area of my sewing machine!?

Its wrapping around the mechinism that holds the bobbin, its like the cutter isn’t working. What do I do?!?

Melanie, first thing to do is get rid of all the thread that isn’t where it’s supposed to be. Lift off the face plate and make sure there’s no tangles above the bobbin mechanism itself.

Next, find the instruction manual and look at the part about loading the bobbin. Most tangles outside the bobbin case are caused by improper loading of bobbin in case mechanism. (Backwards, so the thread reels off going the wrong direction, is very common.) It’s possible for something that seems automatic to be done wrong once in a while, so check that.
